Located towards the end of a peninsula on the Lake Garda, Sirmione penetrates deep into the lake and rises on a strip of land not much more than a few hundred meters wide. The town center promenade stretches between shops, the fortress, the ancient harbour, continues up to the height of the promontory where the “Grotte of Catullus” lies - the famous poet of the late Roman empire – and goes back to the town center along the shore of the lake. Breathtaking landscapes and atmospheres, the Venetian shore of the lake on a side and the Lombard shore on the other, from the meadows, the beaches or the spots bordering the lake you can admire unique landscapes rich in contrasts, including the sight of the Monte Baldo with the Alps on the right side.

Sirmione thermal baths
Sirmione thermal facilities are classified to be at "the first superior level" by the Ministry of Health and operate within the National Health Service.
Sirmione thermal water is of meteoric origin and flows for almost 20 years before rising to pour again from Sirmione springs. Water originates high in the summit of Monte Baldo at 2.200 meters above the sea level and here it gathers before dropping through a series of layers up to 2.100 meters below the sea level, from this depth it rises again and finally springs in Sirmione. On his way to the surface water becomes rich in minerals and warms up to 69 degrees, the water temperature of Sirmione hot springs.
Sirmione water is classified as sulphureous salso-bromine-iodine water and contains a minor quantity of manganese, selenium, zinc, etc..
Sirmione warm water is used also in medical treatments such as inhalation, to heal respiratory tract diseases, balneotherapy and against venous and skin diseases. Mud baths are used to cure the diseases of skeletal and muscular structures.
In any case a warm thermal bath is extremely pleasant and relaxing, particularly if from some pools you can view such a beautiful panorama: the landscapes of Garda Lake and Sirmione.
